Yes Ros they are related waaay back! The Yorkies were really too fragile for Aus. so they began a breeding process with Yorkies, Norfolks, Cairns & a couple other terrier breeds, till mid 1850's the standard for an Australian Terrier was set. They are larger, Button is 13lbs, shorter legs & very muscular tough little dogs, double coated, non shedding, actually the smallest of the working breeds they were used for herding, & snake & rodent control. Button is on a mission to rid the planet of rodents, she constantly harasses the chipmunks at our CO. house! Oh Button gets a bath today! Our oldest son & wife have two 6lb.Yorkies who are good friends with Button. thanks for dropping by!
