Leaves are falling now.

A carpet of leaves beneath the Horse Chestnut tree. It has dropped a vast number of huge conkers over the last few weeks. It is amusing watching people going past and moving leaves aside looking for chestnuts. They are quickly lifted and pocketed.

I wonder if they are passed on to children or whether there is a senior citizen conker competition somewhere?

How many have you picked up this year and what did you do with yours? Posted by Picasa

I think there may be a senior citizen conker thing going on.... Just lately a number of OAPs with whom we are acquainted have produced large bags of conkers for my children. They just happened to have these conkers in the house, they didn't know we were coming, so just what were they going to do with them?? Mind you, I can't pass a tree without kicking around for that champion conker...
