Decisions ,decisions!
The first batch of applique patches are now stitched and squared up and there is just a layout to work out. I am not sure whether to insert some plain fabrics or to do some more applique border strips?? I do want a border all round eventually too.
Using some plain fabric would certainly "pop" the designs and would give some space for quilting too. The other option would be to do some pieced sections in the quieter colours?
This is fantastic! If you plan to use a plain border, might it be an idea to use fillers for the spaces using more appliqué? A few plain fillers *and* a plain border might cause the fillers to stand out too much. I think I know what I'm trying to say
This afternoon I have bordered/framed the patches in one of the colours already used which I think should space out the applique but also tie in the colours. Some of the patches are joined before framing. The final joining is going to be quite a puzzle :o)

Beautiful applique blocks. I'm leaning towards plain, to show off the quilting and the blocks.
