The field garden in spring.

Our garden is divided by the drive coming up from the lane. The smaller bit near the house has been a garden area for at least 250 years whereas the other bit was a field when we moved here. Nearly 17 years on we almost have a wood as the trees have matured. As well as the usual acer, larch, beech, birch, chestnut, cherry, etc we have twisted willows, walnut trees, redwood, mulberry and a japanese pagoda tree in the middle.

The vast majority have been grown from seed in the last 15 years. I used to long for a big garden but seem to have ended up with an arboreteum!
