It is good to be busy again.

I thought I would do another little painted wholecloth and this has taken me two days to get this far.

I am starting out with quite pale colouring and will increase the colour density with thread---------or that is the plan so far! The colouring is mainly with Derwent Inktense pencils. I recently bought a bigger set so now I have all the colours. It is funny I still have the same thrill when I see a full pencil box as I did as a child.

Of course the same feeling occurs now with thread and fabrics too!!!

Oh my. I love what you have created. I know you are still working on this project, but it is absolutely beautiful. I love it. Inspirational. Can't wait to see how your progress! I'm sure it will be delightful and I do hope you'll enter it in a quilt show!

Thank you :o)
I do love doing butterflies and flowers!
If it works out it could well end up at a show.:o)

So pretty. Have you wet the Inktense to set them? It doesn't look like it but I would be afraid of the colour rubbing off without it.

Thanks Sally.
Yes the Inktense have been wetted.I love adding the water as the colour really comes up. It is a bit like those magic colouring books for kids! :o)

BTW I use waterpens to avoid any accidental water splashes.

I can't draw to save my soul, but I love to color, and even now I have to admit the first thing I do when I open a new box of crayons is to give them a big sniff!

do you mind me asking what material you paint onto? is it cotton or maybe something else?

Thank you :o)

The fabric is just ordinary cotton. I think it might be a bit of American muslin but to me it just looks like smooth cotton .

The Inktense pencils work well on most fabrics.

Oh this is so awesome! As a stamper I love colouring images and I want to incororate what I do on my cards into my quilts. Is there any chance of you doing a tutorial on how to use the pencils and how to set them on material?

Hi,
Thank you :o)
If you go to:
http://www.pencils.co.uk/hints.aspx?id=2&sid=1
there are several .pdf files about using Inktense pencils. They really are very pleasing and easy to use. Their tutorials are much better than anything I could do.
