Bluebells, Rosie and Lugless!

There is nothing to beat the sight of a carpet of "proper" bluebells! These are our native bluebells all hanging down from the side from delicate stems. We now have a whole bank of them. :o)

The sun came through the trees to shine on the new fern like a spotlight!

Rosie enjoyed a good snuffle around whilst we enjoyed the view.




    Then she chilled out and relaxed!



  Lastly meet Lugless!
Not the best pictures but guess you can tell why we call him/her Lugless?
Rabbits are the bane of our life and are a real nuisance digging holes, eating the garden plants-------and breeding like rabbits!
Rosie sets off to chase them off the grass but pulls up as she gets close as they are nearly twice as big as her.
This is a half grown one---with no ears! He doesn't seem to have been injured as we have seen him since he was tiny.
 Looks very weird doesn't he/she?

I have missed a month!

What a long time it has been since I blogged!


I have had nearly three months of being quite unwell (to say the least) but hopefully I am on the mend now. :o)
Nothing very creative has been done for a while!

This morning we went into the park as usual and were enjoying the wonderful colours and the dry leaves underfoot when Rosie spotted some friends------all at once! Usually we bump into bigger dogs like spaniels and labradors but this morning they were more her size.




At one point they all stood/sat to enjoy the sunshine whilst their owners chatted.


Two Schnautzers joined in at this point but I didn't manage a picture of them.

 

Then a new friend to meet-- a Maltese terrier pup who was keen to play .

 

Think Rosie felt left out here 'cos she didn't have her coat on.


 

Three years on the 19th of this month since the Cockermouth floods and the finishing touches and clear up on our road is just about complete.   Who could ever have imagined it would have taken so long?

A very belated Happy New Year

This is what Rosie usually looks like.

The picture below is a fluke as I somehow caught her right in the middle of a chew and it it looks for all the world like a grin!
I meant to blog it on the first of the month .

Rosie found somebody smaller than her.

Rosie is a very small Yorkie so this is a very small hedgehog!
She is intrigued by things smaller than her and enjoyed giving this one a good check over.

A little visitor

Wandering around the garden after school this little chap was spotted.




He/she seems very little to be out on his/her own! Rosie was quite puzzled to see something so much smaller than herself but wasn't quite so pleased when the said smaller creature managed to eat half a can of her favourite meat and vegetables!

It is brilliant to see baby hedgehogs again!

I hope it puts some weight on before hibernating!

We are very lucky with all the wildlife in the garden-------a bit too lucky with rabbits though which are a real problem!

Rosie

Not a lot happening on the creative/quilting front at the moment----well there is but it is all just experimenting and drawing up some ideas!

Here are some pictures of Rosie.

I did tidy up the pictures in the computer and put Rosie's pictures all together.
She was one tiny puppy! Yorkshire Terriers look so different once their ears prick up.
That is a baby wild rabbit on the window ledge looking in at her when she was about 5 months old! She is still a lot smaller than an adult rabbit!

Fauna and flora.

Rosie found a hedgehog at the front door and was very puzzled by it. It was nearly as big as her.We nipped in and brought out some dog meat for it. Rosie got very brave then! She kept clear of the hedgehog but proceeded to eat the food very quickly.

I hope that we have a nest of them around. When we first moved here we often saw baby ones about and somewhere have a photo of our previous dog just looking at a mother and her three or four babies at our front door.

We put this in a few years back when it was about as big as a spindly daffodil plant and it has grown to about six feet high now. This year it looks as if it is going to flower which is a lovely surprise as I thought it was just a foliage plant.

It is an even bigger surprise that it has grown at all considering what it is rooted in! When we were renovating the house we had a pile of broken rubble, plasterboard etc and we made a pile of them and put a circle of bricks round them and a thin layer of soil on top with the vague idea of a raised bed for Alpine plants.

I think it is a Cordyline?

Rosie met a hedgehog!

It was lucky that I found the Night setting on the camera and even luckier that I pointed in the right direction as it was pitchblack out there tonight!
We used to get hedgehogs in the garden every year . This is only a small one so hopefully we are getting a new family.

We had one a few years ago that used to climb the lower branches of the apple tree to steal apples and then used to roll them away to eat them in peace!
