February
We have been lucky enough to escape the worst of the weather that has swept over much of the country. We haven't had any snow all winter although we can see it on the fells and Skiddaw. It has been chilly but very dry and bright.
The crocuses are beginning to appear in the sunshine.

A quick trip through to Keswick.
I love the views along the shores of Bassenthwaite en route to Keswick whatever the weather. Sometimes there is a mist rising from the lake, sometimes it is as still as glass and sometimes painted gold by the sun. Today was a very pleasant day but there was a covering of cloud inland. Skiddaw looked as if it was dusted with sugar.

Where is our snow?
After getting excited about sledging and snowmen the Lake District didn't get a lot of snow again. Maybe next time?
Today we went through to Penrith so I took some pictures as we passed Skiddaw and Bassenthwaite and then some more pictures on the return route.
(For non UK readers Penrith is a market town, Skiddaw is a mountain and Bassenthwaite is a lake in the Lake District.)

Everything is looking spectacular at the moment------- but boy is it cold!
