Hot and sticky.

The heat and humidity have been really uncomfortable and I understand that next week is going to be much worse.

At least it has meant that I have got this little quilt finished. This is a closeup of a 3 x 7 inch bit in the middle.
I love the effect of the blue on white and will play further with that idea!
It has taken all week because of the density of the quilting. Once it was finished I was really surprised how much it had reduced in size. I always forget about that or underestimate the shrinkage!

Postie has been :o)

You should have heard the squeals of delight as I unpacked the boxes with prizes etc from Sandown.

Love the fabric, keen to curl up with the books , really tickled with the purple rosettes and wow a Bernina!

Yes I am still going round with a silly grin on my face !

Drawing and stitching.

Had a lovely time just drawing with the machine this weekend. Wish I had used an off white fabric though!

Exciting day!

First of all an email came in overnight to let me know that the two quilts I submitted have been juried into the World Quilt competition! I took a deep breath before I sent in the forms as I have never entered international competitions before! Apparently a record number of 28 quilts from 21 quilters will be travelling over the pond this year!
The quilts that will be going are "Coneflowers" and "Crazy Paisley Sampler".

The rest of the day saw me with a big grin on my face!

Then I got a phonecall from Grosvenor Exhibitions re. my entries in the National Quilt Championships at Sandown!
First of all I was told that "Coneflowers" had won the Machine Quilting Award and then just as I went to say goodbye Vicky told me that my entry into Batik Beauties had won First Prize!!!!

First prize is all sorts of goodies which I will show when they arrive.

Hopefully I will have a better picture of the quilt after the weekend but this is a little bit of it for now.

The quilt is called "Realm of the Seahorse".

Still here

The Sandown quilts have been posted off so now I am busy catching up with the enormous surge of growth that there has been outside. The weather is very pleasant for working gardening at the moment.

Once/if the heat rises I will become an evening gardener again!

Came across this detail from one of my last year's quilts that I haven't previously posted. The roses were coloured after the quilting was done.

It has given me an idea for a new one!
