Autumn again!

The time seems to have flown so it is catch up time again!

First a little inspiration in the form of 5 metres of beautiful shot silk. Not sure what I will do with it yet though something to set off that shimmer.

A little peep at the renovation taking place in the last room we have to "do" in the house. I don't mean just decorate as it needs a ceiling, the floor levelled and walls plastered before that can happen! A lot of the downstairs windows have their original eighteenth century internal shutters but this room doesn't. As luck would have it we found the remains of two wardrobe doors in the loft that will just fit in this room.

Autumn means mushrooms and fungi in general and this year there seems to have been many more than usual. This is a quarter of a huge one that appeared on our front lawn. It goes through the hedge and continues round behind there. When I was about four or five, I had a silver brooch with two tiny pointy toed shoes dangling from it. I buried it in the middle of a fairy circle in the park and made a wish.

I thought that the shoes would fit and my wish would be granted. :o)

Just checked and my "Coneflowers" quilt is lying in third place at the online contest at the Quilting Gallery! :o)
My position won't go up from there now as the others are way ahead.

The voting finishes today so you still have a chance to peep at all the eye candy. It has been quite interesting watching the votes mount up.

PS. Thank you if you voted for me.
UPDATE Delighted to find that I maintained third place . :o)

We have weird cakes here!

There was a birthday last week and first I thought I would make some blue butterfly cakes (blue is her favourite colour) but the blue turned into a rather sort of sea green and they ended up looking more like lichens!!!
Tasted good though! :o)
Her little sister wanted to decorate some cakes too and somewhere along the line sugar roses and silver stars gave way to Smartie eyes and jelly teeth and lips. A special was provided for the guest with a gap in their teeth.
See the bottom picture!
It all started because I was telling them of the "bruise" cakes I made when my kids were small. (Equal dollops of blue and purple cake mixture into cake cases .) I think they were originally made as someone had fallen down and bruised their knees!
Happy days! :o)
