Still no rain.

The river is getting quite low and some of the bedrock is getting exposed now. Some parts of the country have had storms and flash floods recently. Conversely, the Lake District has seen little rain and is getting very parched and the grass is getting scorched.

We have lived in this house for eighteen years this weekend and this is the first time we have seen these flowers growing in the water. I don't know their name yet. They look like an oxalis or geranium flower? They are growing quite profusely along the other bank too.

If you click on the picture you will get a bigger version.
Anyone recognise them?

I have identified it as Water-crowfoot (Ranunculus aquatilis)

It apparently grows in slow streams and ponds. Guess that shows how dry it is, as the river Cocker is reputedly the fastest flowing river in England! It is obviously ambling along slowly enough for this flower to put on a show.
