I have been playing with that batch of fabrics I collected together. This design has been at the back of my mind for a long time. This was very early on and more has been done now. A few bits are needing modification but I am enjoying the progress so far. At the moment it is hanging on the design board as I ruminate where it goes from here.

A few weeks ago we took a run up to Carlisle to see what a difference the new western bypass has made and were very impressed!
We can now get to the main route to Scotland or the bigger superstores without going through the city which is a bottleneck for traffic. I love Carlisle itself as a shopping centre with its market and compact shopping centre but some of the out of town places are useful too. We will be more likely to go up there more often now,I think.
We decided to follow the scenic route home again hugging the coast of the Solway Firth.
These pictures are looking across to Scotland. At one time there was actually a bridge over around here. What an attraction it would be if it was rebuilt?
We were amused by the poles along the side of the road.
Instead of snow poles as on the A66 or the Highlands there are sea poles saying things like-----------"if the water is here it is 4 foot deep ahead "which is a bit worrying when there is an expanse of green between you and the sea!

Update on the blessed lane-------------people are being consulted and permissions being sought and work is due to resume again soon. Quite honestly we despair at times!

Today has been spent nursing Rosie who was at the vet's yesterday to be neutered. She goes into panic mode at the vet's so we sat with her till the pre-op sedative had taken effect. She was really spaced out last night but today is looking more like herself again. She has to go on lead walks for ten days which is no big problem.
The biggest headache is the no jumping rule! This is a tiny Yorkie who from a standing start leaps onto the computer chair set at its highest level. We have spent the day turning chairs to the wall or standing the cushions up to discourage her and this is only day one!
None of our other dogs were allowed on chairs so I am not sure how she has managed to get away with it!

Last snippet of news is about Rock Challenge. Cockermouth School came second nationally. You should be able to see their performance here. Don't they look professional? One of our GDs drifts across the scene in pale blue around the 2.23 mark. Parts of those costumes are what I was helping with here.

Think that is main things over last few weeks. Of course we spent a lot of time watching the Olympics!
Wasn't it just brilliant? Was in awe of the achievements of Team GB, loved all the quirky bits in the opening and closing ceremonies and the introduction of stamps and golden pillar boxes. Thought the backdrops were so well chosen but most of all I thought the spirit of good sportsmanship shone through about 99.9% of the whole proceedings both from the athletes and the spectators.
