Walk part two.

Once over the bridge we can see across to the Double Mills Youth Hostel. It has the name because of the two water wheels . One has been restored though the mill race is long gone. When the river is in flood the water almost encircles the hostel. The whitewashed stones are a very traditional way of marking paths and enclosures.
Once into the field we follow the river and this is the view from the river bank. The footpath takes you to Lorton eventually. Beautiful isn't it and only three or four minutes from home.

When you reach the top you get a lovely picture of ----------snow!!!

These are the Lorton fells and that snow is only five or six miles away but it didn't reach us!

A lot of the daffodils are beginning to fade but other varieties are coming into flower. This area under the beeches always has very tall flowers. We often see red squirrels here but they weren't cavorting around today.

Lastly the tree trunk just round the corner from home. Can you see the little creature peeping out?I am so tempted to go up and paint some eyes on so that more children spot him! You have to stand at exactly the right angle to see him!
